Earlier this week, Real Housewives of New York star Jules Wainstein announced that she and her husband of eight years, Michael, had decided to call it quits on their marriage, but new allegations are surfacing about the couple’s troubled past.
According to Michael’s attorney, Mark Jay Heller, the reality star once physically assaulted her husband back in 2012.
“In the winter of 2012, Julianne brutally and viciously assaulted her diminutive but brave husband,” Heller exclusively claims to Us Weekly.
A rep for Jules tells Us that “this is not the truth and the truth will prevail.”
Earlier this week, Jules’ rep told Us that the pair decided to get a divorce after the season 8 star learned that her husband was allegedly having an affair.
“It has nothing to do with the show,” her rep told Us of the split. “They had issues for awhile but Jules was blindsided by this.”
The pair share children Jagger, 5, and Rio, 2.
According to Heller, however, Jules’ “abusive” behavior was what ultimately ended their relationship.
“But for the fact that he has two beautiful children, he would have left her a long time ago, but he has been trying to hold the family together,” Heller tells Us.
Jules’ costar and pal Ramona Singer told Us on Wednesday that it’s the reality star who’s grieving.
“I know she’s heartbroken, and I think it’s really sad,” Singer told Us. “I think it’s a really sad thing that it becomes public. I mean, something like this, you want to keep private. You want to protect your children, and it’s just hard enough to deal with without it being all over the media.”
