Happy Saturday! Alexander Skarsgård put his incredible abs on display in a series of new promo shots for his upcoming film The Legend of Tarzan.
In the photos, the 39-year-old actor strips down to nothing but a pair of tan khaki shorts, showing off his insanely chiseled upper body.
Skarsgård recently opened up in a new interview about how he prepared for the role of Tarzan with a grueling, months-long gym regimen.
“The key for me was I didn’t want to look like a broiler,” he explained to Entertainment Weekly on Friday, June 17. “I didn’t want to look like someone from Venice Beach, that sort of Gold's Gym look.”
In addition to his killer workouts, the True Blood hunk stuck to a strict high-protein diet — that is, until he wrapped production.
“I spent four days just in bed, being fed by Dad,” he told EW of his carb binge with his father, Good Will Hunting actor Stellan Skarsgård. “He cooked these pastas with rich sauces and bone marrow and fried mozzarella and tons of beer and wine. It was the most incredible weekend of my life.”
The latest Tarzan film is set in London in the 1880s and focuses on the king of the jungle living as a British apprentice named John Clayton III with his wife, Jane Porter (Margot Robbie), by his side. He is later invited back to Congo, Africa, as a trade emissary and gets caught in a deadly colonialist conspiracy.
The Legend of Tarzan hits theaters July 1.
